Chiesa della Madonna del Morbo, Poppi Tuscany

The Chiesa della Madonna del Morbo in Poppi was built in 1659 to give thanks to the Virgin Mary for giving protection during the dreadful plague.

It is a very small church built during the late Renaissance period. It is hexagonal in shape and has a dome vault. If you look up at the ceiling in this small Tuscan church you will see the Egyptian eye encased in a pyramid. All very out of place and an odd find in a little town like Poppi.

I hope you like the picture. I had to hang around for hours waiting for a delivery van to finally move from its illegal parking outside the church so that I could get the picture.
